An Albemarle Champion
At a recent Relay for Life meeting, twelve-year-old Joey
Davenport Stood up and announced that he had a statement to make –
“
I have cancer, but if the doctor says you have only two months
to live, don’t give up, keep fighting !” Joey has a
rare form of brain cancer, and the harshness of his treatments,
chemo. Etc., have impeded his mobility to move about freely.
Albemarle Boats, in their first venture into Relay for Life fundraising,
have adopted Joey as their unofficial campaign manager. Like a
little general marshalling his forces, Joey is right at the forefront
at the group’s meetings, helping out as they strive
to meet their goal of $4,000.
Albemarle Boat’s Vice President Burch Perry is
justifiably very proud of Team Albemarle, and the efforts of his
employees.
Our little champion here has accepted his challenge in his fight
for health. It is written somewhere that“
A little child shall lead them”, so let’s all rise
to our challenge behind the example of a leader of whom we can
all be most proud – Joey Davenport!
The Albemarle Relay for Life Team would like to thank the following
for their support and contributions – Food Lion, Farmers
Foods, Westover General Store, and C.H.R Catering.
