The History of Albemarle Sportfishing Boats

Albemarle and Carolina Classic both started in Edenton, North Carolina. They quickly became the best and most reliable builder of the express fishing boat.

1978    |    Incorporation of Albemarle Boats. Mac Privott joins company.

1979    |    Introduction of the Albemarle 24.

1980    |    Introduction of the 21 Albemarle.

1984    |    Introduction of the 27 Albemarle.

1986    |    Jackshaft (JPS) technology introduced.

1989    |    Introduction of the 32 Albemarle Convertible.

1990    |    J. Scott Harrell Jr. became President of Albemarle Boats. Introduction of the 32 Express

1991    |    Mac Privott establishes Carolina Classic Boats, Inc. at boat building facility on Midway Drive.

1992    |    Albemarle 262 Center Console introduced.

1993    |    Carolina Classic 25 is introduced, Albemarle 265 is introduced

1995    |    Carolina Classic 28 is introduced

1996    |    Albemarle 305 Express introduced

1996    |    Albemarle 280 Express debuted at the New York Boat Show; Albemarle 242 Center Console introduced.

1997    |    Carolina Classic 35 is introduced

1998    |    Carolina Classic moves into new facility on Anchor’s Way.

2000    |    Albemarle 410 Express is introduced

2001    |    Albemarle Boats refurbishes and moves into boat building facility on Midway Drive.

2002    |    Albemarle 248 is introduced

2003    |    Albemarle 268 XF is introduced

2004    |    Carolina Classic 32 is introduced, Albemarle 310 XF is introduced

2005    |    Albemarle 410 Convertible is introduced at Miami Boat Show

2005    |    Albemarle joins Brunswick Corporation.

2006    |    Albemarle 360 XF is introduced at Miami Boat Show

2007    |    Albemarle 330 XF is introduced at Miami Boat Show

2008    |    Albemarle 290 XF introduced at Annapolis Boat Show, 288 OBXF is introduced at Miami Boat Show.

2009    |    Albemarle purchased by Scott McLaughlin

2010    |    Albemarle introduces Volvo IPS powered 360 XF at Miami Boat Show

2011    |    Carolina Classic purchased by Scott McLauglin

2012    |    Carolina Classic moves into Midway Drive Facility

2015    |    Albemarle and Carolina Classic purchased by Murphy Alternative Investments

2015    |    Albemarle and Carolina Classic unite to become Albemarle Boats, The Carolina Classic, Debut of
                 brand at Fort Lauderdale Boat Show
